AGE CALCULATIONS
Add the ages of all competitors as of the first day of the competition and divide by the number of competitors in the routine dropping the decimal. For example if the average age came to 14.9 you would enter the routine under the 14 year old division.
*Exception - A routine may not be entered in a category more than 3 years younger than it’s oldest competitor unless the eldest dancer is a recreational dancer. For example if you have an average of 10.2 but your oldest dancer is 17 years, this routine must compete in the 14 year old division rather than the 10 year old division. This is calculated by the eldest dancer (17) minus 3 years.
*All dancers must dance a minimum of 50% of the choreographed routine. No small children used as props may be included to bring down the age category.
MOST PHOTOGENIC AWARD
A recent 5X7 or 8X10 head shot to be submitted at the front desk upon registering your studio. Please have all photos labeled clearly on the back with: Studio Name, Dancers Name and Age as of the 1st day of competition. There will be a charge of $15 per entry paid by cash or studio cheque only.
Photogenic awards will be awarded at the 1st award ceremony on the last day of the competition. There will be a Junior(13 and under) 1st place and runner up as well as a senior (14 and over) 1st placement and runner up awarded. All submissions must be in no later than Saturday evening.
LATE ENTRIES
All entries are on a first come first serve basis therefore any late entries will be subject to availability and will require an additional charge of $15 per entry.
TIME LIMITS
There will be no points penalty for routines exceding the time limits so long as it is within reason. Please be considerate of the other competitors by complying with the time frames alloted as they are fair and in place to keep the performances on schedule. If your routine is more than 20 seconds over the time limit, you are required to add $10 to your entry fee with registration.
ADJUDICATION
There will be very well qualified judges for all Star Talent competitions with knowledge & experience in all styles of dance. Please remember that this is only their opinions and please respect it as that. Each judge will be given a point system out of 100 and will be averaged out. We have divided the categories up into 6 divisions and dancers will be awarded in order of where they fall. All decisions from the judges will be considered final.
SOLO'S
A dancer is limited to no more than 3 solo's per competition and can not compete against themself in the same category.
VIDEO/PHOTOGRAPHY
No recording devices or flash photography of any kind will be permitted in the theatre. We thank you for your cooperation and adherence to this rule. Studio’s own the rights to their own choreography. If you wish to purchase a copy of your dancers video please see the video booth for details.
