and emotion.
FOLKLORE
Routines that incorporate ethnic
styles of dance such as polkas
Hawaiian Spanish etc.
HIP HOP
Routines that incorporate
popping, locking, krumping,
breaking or street dancing.
Routines that incorporate jazz
technique including jumps, kicks,
splits, pirouettes and isolations.
Artistic expression characterized
by emotion, subjectivity and
imagination.
A form of dance created in the
20th century that features an
individual’s movement language.
MUSICAL THEATER
A Broadway style routine which
includes a character(s) who
conveys a story through dialogue
and dance. Dancers must lip-sing
ALL lyrics in this category.
Routines that include ballet and
Pointe technique.
SONG & DANCE
A routine which combines any
style of dance with true vocal
expression.
TAP
Routine comprised of tap 
technique and rhythmic sound.
